Lent #2 - Be the Salt of the Earth

"Everyone will be salted with fire.
Salt is good, but if salt becomes insipid,
with what will you restore its flavor?
Keep salt in yourselves and you will have peace with one another."
St. Mark (Mk. 9: 49 -50)

The word Insipid means lacking taste or savor(Tasteless) OR lacking in qualities that interest

I remember the sermon for this (not sure from which priest)
A king had 3 daughters. He asked them, how much is their love for him.

The eldest said she loves him more than all the gold in the world. The second said she loves him more than all the silver in the world

The youngest daughter was quiet and later she said that she loves him more than salt. The king was not very happy with it. The cook overheard it and the next day when he prepared food, he didn't add salt.

When the king ate it, he felt the food was tasteless because there was no salt. He then realised what his youngest daughter meant.

How to relate to choice?
We are all like the salt. If the salt is missing then it will become tasteless. In other words, the weekend becomes tasteless if each one of us is not there. Each of us have our own role (like the salt) to play in order to make the weekend a successful one.

The same goes to our service in CHOICE if you can relate to it, if you lose interest, you will find it challenging to do anything but IF you are interested you can accomplish anything that comes banging on your door (no I am not referring to Shaggys song "it wasn't me".
